Hey TL, I came across what I think is a bug, but I'm not sure how new it is and if it just came to be in 1.3.3.
As you may know, Archons were made Massive in the new Patch 1.3.3. I wanted to test if Hallucinated Archons yielded the same unintended bug from beta -- where Colossus hallucinations could destroy Forcefields.
What I found wasn't so far from that.
Archon Hallucinations have the ability to walk through Forcefields. It doesn't matter how many are placed -- they simply walk through them. However, you cannot destroy them like the pre-fix Colossus hallucination.
Despite not being as good as the Colossus hallucination bug, this has quite a lot of uses, such as allowing for warp ins on the high ground even if your opponent has Sentries to Forcefield the ramp. Also, it can give you vision for a Blink Stalker rush without endangering a Stalker to get vision. (Although air units and Colossus hallucinations are generally better at this )
Like I said, I'm not sure if this was in before 1.3.3, but if it wasn't, make use of it while you can whenever you get that oddball chance.

Wouldn't it be better to just stomp on the forcefields with a hallucinated Colossus?

please delete your post fast quick.!!!
before blizzard removes it!!!
though its not that useful on a large scale but it would be funky to trip people out

I see what you mean though using a hallucinated Colossus or air unit could be better for those types of tactics, especially with cliffwalking/flying.
More of a really random bug than anything.

Hallucolossi also walk through FFs (currently), so this is how it is, at least for the moment.

They don't stomp them.
As for walking past forcefields for vision, why don't you just hallucinate a Void Ray or Phoenix for vision.
I agree they should fix that though.

pretty sure the hallucinated Collosus can't stomp forcefields anymore .
To OP: Seems like a cool bug, but can't a hallucinated pheonix do everything and better then this archon? It can give vision, and also let you do warp ins, and has less chance of dying.
EDIT: Post above me stated everything already haha
|
Lol thats pretty interesting that they walk through them but you could already get vision of the high ground with hallucination (colossus, phoenix, void ray) so I don't really know how you can make use of it.
Edit: Too slow lol =/

hallu collosis walk over FF without killing them, and if you were doing it for vision of high ground you could just hallu an air unit so it doesnt seem that big of a deal. pretty much any hallucinated unit can be used for this purpose

Well, aside from vision, archons are great tanking units. Hallucinated archons in conjunction with forcefields might be a very redundant, but still effective tool for protoss players to use.

If you were trying to use hallucinate to gain vision of the high ground, why wouldn't you just hallucinate a phoenix?
|
Interesting but i cant really see any practical use, for warp ins you can use an air unit etc, i wish blizzard would remove useless stuff like this and leave in stuff with potential such as the zealot charge/voidray stuff.

Sounds like a bug but I don't see what effect it will have. You could have just hallucinated a phoenix for vision. Maybe it might have use if they have a cloud of AtA units or something.
|
Yeah, truthfully I wasn't thinking of that. Hallucinated air units and Colossus are quite superior. Although Archon hallucs could be used for some kind of walk through forcefield into manner blocking. Just a thought.
But yeah I mainly just posted this for bug awareness and any cool creativity that could come from this.

Maybe you wanna walk up the ramp. I saw a build where the guy built chargelot+archons(real ones) and tried to break up my ramp.

But you still cant walk up the ramp with real units, it doesnt crush the forcefield.

you can already do both those things with a hallucinated phoenix.

How is this a bug? A hallucinated Colossus also walks through forcefields, this seems to be intended behaviour for hallucinated massive units to me...
